Year 3 Weekly News

We’ve had a busy and exciting week in Year 3. The children have worked really hard and shown great enthusiasm across all of their lessons.

In English, we wrote our own Secret Giant narratives. The children came up with some brilliant ideas and produced some really impressive pieces of writing — full of imagination and thoughtful detail.

In Maths, we started our addition and subtraction unit. We’ve had lots of practical sessions to help begin our learning and build confidence with different strategies.

In RE, we learned about the Hindu harvest festival Pongal. We explored how families celebrate by giving thanks for food and farming, and the children enjoyed comparing it to harvest traditions they already know.

In History, we marked Black History Month by learning about Barack Obama. We talked about his achievements, his role as the first Black President of the United States, and why his story continues to inspire people around the world.

We also spent time this week preparing for our trip to Chester next week. We discussed how we can keep ourselves safe, what to expect on the day, and how we can represent our school brilliantly while we’re out.

The children also enjoyed their lessons in Music, PE, PSHE, Science, Computing and Wellbeing, showing great teamwork and positivity throughout.
