Year 3 Weekly News – 11.09.26

We’ve had a fantastic first full week back in Year 3. The children have settled beautifully into our routines and have shown great focus, enthusiasm and kindness throughout the week. It’s been lovely to see them growing in confidence already.

In English, we began reading our new class text Mr Pusskins. The children were instantly hooked by the grumpy, rather dramatic cat who decides to run away from home. We discussed his personality and made predictions about what might happen next. The children also wrote letters to Mr Pusskins encouraging him to stay at home.

In Maths, we continued our place value unit, focusing on partitioning threeâ€'digit numbers in different ways. The children used baseâ€'10 equipment, place value counters and number lines to show their understanding.

In PE, we developed our football skills, practising accurate passing, moving into space and keeping control of the ball while travelling across the pitch. The children showed great teamwork and encouragement towards one another.

In History, we explored the Romans in more depth. We looked at when and why they invaded Britain, discussed who Julius Caesar was, and began to think about how life might have changed for people living here at the time. The children asked thoughtful questions and showed real curiosity about the topic.

In RE, we learned about Harvest and talked about why people celebrate it. We discussed thankfulness, sharing and how different communities mark this time of year.

In Computing, we explored digital devices and learned how to create secure passwords. The children practised making strong passwords and talked about why it’s important to keep personal information safe online.

We also enjoyed Music, Science and PSHE, with lots of enthusiasm and great contributions throughout the week.

A big well done to those who completed their maths.co.uk homework — more has been set and is due next Friday.
