What a fantastic week we’ve had in Year 2! The children have worked so hard and shown great enthusiasm across all of our lessons.
In English, we wrote our own versions of Clean Up! and finished our final paragraphs today. The children produced some wonderful stories — full of creativity, care for the environment and brilliant ideas. They should be very proud of themselves.
In Maths, we started our new unit on measure, focusing on length. The children enjoyed comparing and measuring different objects and using the correct vocabulary confidently.
In PE, we warmed up with a lively game of Dishes and Domes before taking part in a variety of athletics team events, including sprints and beanbag races. The children showed great energy and teamwork.
In Science, we continued our weather topic and explored why the weather changes. We found out that the wind plays a big part in this and learned how wind direction affects the weather we experience.
In Geography, we compared aerial photographs with maps. The children looked closely at an aerial photo of Nantwich and highlighted some of the key features and attractions they recognised.
In Art, we looked at Tudor houses from different perspectives. The children enjoyed studying the details and are excited to design their own Tudor style buildings in our next lesson.
As part of Environment Week, we created our own leaf and calico designs. The children loved experimenting with patterns, shapes and natural colours, and they produced some beautiful pieces. It was great fun seeing their creativity shine through.
We also enjoyed our lessons in RE, Computing, Wellbeing, PSHE and Music, where the children continued to show curiosity, kindness and enthusiasm.
Enjoy the weekend. A hot week is forecast next week — please ensure sun cream is applied before school and that children bring a sun hat with them.
