What a busy and thoughtful week we’ve had in Year 2!
This week was RHE Week, and we spent lots of time discussing important topics such as stereotypes, body parts, and understanding that our bodies belong to us. The children approached these conversations sensibly and respectfully, asking thoughtful questions and showing excellent understanding.
In English, we wrote our own fact files about pollution. The children explained what pollution is, how it affects our world, how we can help, and even included some interesting facts. Their finished pieces were fantastic.
In Maths, we completed our measure unit by focusing on mass. The children enjoyed using weights and scales and finished the topic with a recap of all four measures — length, capacity, temperature and mass.
In Science, we finished our weather topic by exploring the differences between summer and winter. The children compared temperature, daylight, clothing and seasonal changes.
In Geography, we drew our own maps of Nantwich and added keys to show important features. The children loved creating their own map symbols and thinking carefully about layout.
We also enjoyed our lessons in PE, RE, Music, and Computing, where the children continued to show enthusiasm and positivity.
With the very hot weather, we made sure to stay hydrated and spent time doing quiet, cool activities to keep everyone comfortable and happy. The children coped brilliantly and showed great awareness of how to look after themselves in the heat.
I can’t believe next week will be our last week of Year 2 — the year has flown by, and the children have achieved so much.
Another hot week is forecast, so please remember sun hats and water bottles next week.
Enjoy the weekend.
