Year 2 News 18.09.26
Another brilliant week has passed in Year 2!
In our writing this week, we have finished our 'Penguins in Peril' book. We have written letters and a party invite to finish our unit. We then started our new unit based on the book 'Herman's Letter'. We started our unit by receiving a letter which we needed to respond to. We then enjoyed the first few pages of our book and wrote about what the characters were doing.
In our maths learning, we have focused on patterns in place value and counting up in tens. We used 100 squares to build our confidence to find 10 more and 10 less. We then moved on to compare numbers. We recapped how to use greater than, less than and equal to symbols.
Our spelling focus this week was on the 'r' sound spelt 'wr'.
Our RE lesson was based on the story of the Dead Sea Scrolls. We learnt about a shepherd who found some of the first copies of the bible. We learnt that the bible is made up of many stories from the old and new testament. We learnt that the original bible stories were recorded on scrolls.
We have also enjoyed our lessons of science, PE, PSHE, wellbeing, computing, music and courageous advocacy.
Have a great week!
Mrs Morris
