Year 2 News 16.10.26

In our writing this week, we have enjoyed developing our ideas for our non-fiction writing of instructions. We learnt that we would be writing instructions to get to Henry's house. We looked at an example of a good piece of writing. We have then learnt about imperative verbs, using the conjunction so and writing questions. 

In Maths this week, we have continued to learn about counting in 2s, 5s, 10s, and 3s. We have been developing our confidence in both counting forward and backwards. We have also completed our place value unit. Today, we started on our new unit of maths – addition and subtraction. We started by recapping skills like adding 0, 1 and doubles. 

Our spelling focus has been recapping our common exception words and the spelling rules we have covered in previous weeks. 

Our wow moment this week has to be our black history learning. We have learnt about the life of Martin Luther King and the positive impact that his actions have had. We were inspired to think of our own dreams for the world and created artwork which showcased them. 

We have also enjoyed lessons in RE, history, wellbeing, PSHE, Music and PE.
