Year 2 News 06.11.26

In our learning this week, we have started a fantastic new book. It is called biscuit bear. In this story, our biscuit bear comes to life and enjoys making new friends to create a circus with. We haven’t quite finished our book and look forward to seeing what happens next. We have written speech bubbles, a character bear description and created a circus poster with our knowledge of imperative verbs.

In Maths this week, we have learnt about communicative. Meaning we can change our addition sums to make it easier to work out. We also learnt how this isn’t the same for subtraction. Next, we learnt about balanced sums. We have used the balancing scales to see what values equal the same as a number that is 10 or below. We have even moved our learning on to look at a balanced sum which has an addition on each side like 2+3 = 4+1.

Our spellings have focused on words ending -le this week.

Our wow moment this week has been our computing lessons. We have completed two lessons this week based on our new topic – digital images. We have learnt about devices that we can use to take photos and enjoyed seeing how these can be used. We loved seeing how an instant camera worked. We then completed a bingo task to take a selection of photos around school. In our second lesson, we learnt about choosing between landscape and portrait photos. We are really looking forward to seeing what we will do next.
