Happy Friday Team!
This week in Year 1 we have had a lovely and busy week of learning. In English, we have started thinking about writing our own stories about a missing animal. The children began by designing their own animals, giving them creative names and thinking carefully about what their animals might look like and where they might live. We are excited to see how these ideas develop into their own stories over the coming days. In Maths, we have been spending time exploring number lines. The children have been working with blank number lines and practising adding the correct numbers in the right places. This has helped us to strengthen our understanding of number order and counting. During RE, we have been learning about what happened on Good Friday. The children listened carefully and asked thoughtful questions as we discussed why this day is important. We also had a wonderful creative day for World Book Day. The children looked fantastic in their costumes, there were so many imaginative outfits! We shared the beautiful story Under the Love Umbrella and talked about the people in our lives who are under our own “love umbrella”. The children created some thoughtful writing and lovely artwork inspired by the story. To finish the week, we began working on our puppet projects. The children designed their puppets and started cutting out their shapes ready to continue building them next week.
Well done Year 1 for another fantastic week of learning and creativity!
