Year 1 News 26.6.26

Happy Friday Team! This week in Year 1, we have been busy with lots of exciting learning!

In English, we have been writing our own Mixed stories, using everything we have learnt about creating interesting characters and settings. In Maths, we have been learning about measurement. We measured objects using non-standard units and then used standard units by measuring with rulers. We also explored capacity and volume, learning that capacity is how much a container can hold, while volume is how much is actually inside the container. We had lots of fun investigating with water to test our understanding! In RE, we continued learning about Creation and listened to a new song called Weird and Wonderful, which celebrated the amazing and unusual animals in our world. In History, we became map makers by drawing maps of our school and discovering when different parts of the building were constructed. In Computing, we had a great time using ScratchJr, where we learnt how to change the sprites and make our projects even more exciting. We also enjoyed making delicious smoothies as part of our DT learning. With the hot weather this week, we have spent many of our afternoons keeping cool. The children especially enjoyed our water activities, where they had lots of fun while staying refreshed!
