Happy Friday Team!

What a busy and exciting week we have had in Year 1!

In English, we finished planning our very own stories. We have now started writing our mixed-up stories using our three shapes to help structure our ideas. We have loved seeing our imaginations come to life on the page! In Maths, we have been learning all about money. We explored different coins and notes, practised recognising their values and worked hard to make different amounts. In PE, we focused on our catching skills. We practised throwing a tennis ball into the air and catching it using our soft cup hands. We then used these skills to begin planning our own games of hand tennis. In DT, we have had lots of fun exploring different fruits ready to create our smoothies. We learnt how to cut and juice safely before preparing strawberries, avocado, pineapple and banana. We also juiced limes, lemons and oranges! After our taste test, we chose two fruits and a juice that we would like to use in our final smoothie creations. In Computing, we continued developing our programming skills using ScratchJr. We explored blocks with numbers and discovered that changing the number means we don’t need to use as many blocks in our programs. In History, we looked at different buildings in Wybunbury and how they have changed over time. We compared photographs from the past and present and grouped them into “then” and “now”. Finally, we absolutely shone during our Class Worship this week. Everyone should feel incredibly proud of their confidence, teamwork and all of the hard work they put in. What a wonderful way to celebrate our learning!
