Happy Friday, Year 4!
We’ve had another brilliant week, despite the very warm weather! I have been so proud of how well you have all coped with the heat, continuing to work hard, stay focused and try your very best. You also tackled your end-of-term quizzes with fantastic determination and resilience. Well done, everyone!
One of our wow moments this week was in History, where you made your very own clay oracle bones. Oracle bones were used over 3,000 years ago during the Shang Dynasty in Ancient China. Priests would carve questions into animal bones or turtle shells before heating them until they cracked. The pattern of the cracks was then interpreted to predict the future or answer important questions. You loved creating your own versions and learning about this fascinating tradition.
Another highlight was in Science, where we learnt all about the digestive system. Using everyday items, including tights, we created a working model to show how food travels through the digestive system.
In Maths, we continued our Geometry unit by learning about coordinates and translations. You showed great accuracy when plotting points and moving shapes around a grid. In English, we started our exciting new writing unit. This half term, you'll be writing a persuasive piece to encourage people to visit the circus. We can't wait to see the persuasive techniques and exciting vocabulary you use to convince your readers!
Alongside this, you've also enjoyed lessons in Wellbeing, RE, PE and Music.
Have a wonderful weekend, and let's hope the sunshine continues!
See you on Monday,
Miss Pennance
