Welcome To Year 5!

Welcome back, Year 5!

What a lovely first week back we’ve had! It has been so special welcoming you all back into our new classroom and getting to continue our journey together. After everything we achieved last year, I was really excited to be your teacher again, and you certainly haven’t disappointed. You’ve returned with lots of enthusiasm, smiles and a fantastic attitude towards your learning. It already feels like we’re going to have a brilliant year together!

In Maths, we started our Place Value unit and have already been working with numbers all the way up to 1,000,000! We read the wonderful book How Big Is a Million?, which helped us begin to understand just how enormous one million really is. It certainly got us thinking!

English began with a bit of a mystery. On our very first day, we received a special gift from a boy called Wesley. Inside was a book all about his life, but there was one important rule: we are only allowed to read a couple of pages each day! We’ve managed to resist the temptation to read ahead and even wrote Wesley a letter to thank him for his unusual gift. We’re very intrigued to find out what happens next!

In the afternoons, we started our new History unit, where we’ll be discovering how the arrival of the railways changed Crewe. We’ve also enjoyed our first PE, Music, Computing and Wellbeing lessons of Year 5.

It really has been wonderful having you all back. I’m incredibly lucky to get another year with you, and I can’t wait to see what Year 5 has in store for us!
