Welcome to Year 3

It has been wonderful welcoming the children back to school this week. They have returned with big smiles, plenty of stories about their summer adventures, and a fantastic attitude towards learning. Even though it has been a short week, the children have settled quickly back into our rhythms and routines, and I am very proud of their behaviour and focus.

In English, we received a very exciting surprise on Wednesday morning, Mrs Hughes delivered a parcel addressed to our class! Inside was a letter and a book called Mr Pusskins. The children were thrilled and made some brilliant predictions about what they think the story might be about. We can’t wait to start reading it together next week.

In Maths, we began our place value unit and used lots of different concrete resources to explore numbers and represent them in different ways.

In Science, we started our new topic on rocks and enjoyed looking closely at different examples.

In History, we were very excited to begin learning about the Romans. We looked at a timeline of key events and made notes about what we already know and what we would like to find out as the topic continues.

In PE, we enjoyed our football session, practising control, teamwork and movement.

We also had sessions in Music, Wellbeing, Spellings and Handwriting, which the children approached with great enthusiasm.
