Welcome back to our final half term of Year 2! It has been lovely to see the children return with such enthusiasm and energy. We have had a brilliant first week back.
In English, we arrived on Monday to find a very mysterious collection of items in our classroom — seashells, a body board, a bucket and spade, goggles and even a postcard from someone called Rocket. The children were instantly intrigued! We soon discovered that Rocket is the main character in our new book, Clean Up!, and we learned how she helps to clean plastic from the beach. The children are already excited to continue the story.
In Maths, we began our new unit on statistics. This week we focused on tally charts and frequency tables, and the children worked really confidently to collect and organise information.
In RE, we started our new topic about the Ascension. We talked about saying goodbye, the idea of the Holy Spirit, and how Christians believe Jesus continued to help his friends. The children also created some beautiful watercolour artwork linked to the theme.
In Art, we explored the question What is an architect? We looked at famous architecture from around the world and talked about bird’sâ€'eye views and how buildings are designed.
In Geography, we began our new topic: Why is Nantwich special? We used maps to find Wybunbury and discussed where it is in relation to Nantwich and other local places.
In Science, we started our new topic on the weather. The children completed a field sketch, used weather symbols and even made predictions about the week’s weather.
We also enjoyed our lessons in Computing, Music, PE, Wellbeing and PSHE, where the children continued to show great teamwork and enthusiasm.
Thank you for your continued support. Have a lovely weekend.
