This week in preschool has been full of exciting new experiences and opportunities to grow in confidence.

We were delighted to welcome our new September starters and their families for their transition visits. It was lovely to meet you all, and we are looking forward to welcoming you into our preschool family. Our older children also enjoyed their transition visit to Reception, where they had a wonderful time exploring the classroom and outdoor area and meeting Miss Haynes. These visits supported Personal, Social and Emotional Development, helping the children to feel confident and excited about the next stage of their learning journey.

In Mathematics, we explored the concept of sharing. Our story of the week, Pig the Pug, helped us think about why it is important to share with others. The children practised sharing toys and snack fairly, using the language "one for you and one for me" as they worked together to make sure everyone had a turn. This supported both their mathematical understanding and their social skills.

During our Heartsmart (PSED) sessions, we enjoyed going on a Bear Hunt, thinking about perseverance and how we can keep going even when something feels tricky. We talked about what might have happened if we had given up at the very first obstacle and agreed that we would have missed all the fun! Boris reminded us that we can be brave and keep trying.

We also shared the story "Pantosaurus and the Power of Pants", helping the children understand that their bodies belong to them. We listened to the Pantosaurus song and practised using our loud, confident voices to say "NO!" if something doesn't feel right, reinforcing the importance of staying safe and speaking to a trusted grown-up.

Through Communication and Language, the children loved looking at the photographs you shared of your different jobs. They were so proud to talk about their families and tell their friends about the important work their grown-ups do. We heard about lots of exciting careers and enjoyed asking questions and learning from one another.

It has been another lovely week of learning, sharing, and growing together.

Next week is our final full week of preschool. We will be choosing our favourite stories and rhymes from across the year, creating our final self-portraits, and celebrating all of the wonderful memories we have made together.
