We’ve had a lovely week in preschool, full of Easter fun and springtime excitement. The children enjoyed lots of Easter and spring stories, including Peely Wally, The Golden Egg, and Rabbits Don’t Lay Eggs. They loved talking about the characters and sharing their favourite parts. Our rhyme of the week was Sleeping Bunnies, which brought plenty of smiles as everyone hopped, bounced, and giggled together.
In maths, we explored patterns using colourful Easter eggs, spotting stripes, spots, zigzags, and more. We also went on an outdoor Easter egg hunt to practise positional language, asking questions like: Was the egg in the basket, behind the tree, or under the table? The children used these words brilliantly as they searched.
As part of our learning about spring and new life, the children matched baby animals to their grown ups, such as kittens with cats and chicks with chickens. They were so proud when they made the right connections.
For physical development, we practised balancing skills with eggs and spoons in the preschool garden, concentrating carefully as we walked and tiptoed around.
We also practised brushing teeth in the water tray, getting ready for all the sweet treats that might come our way over the Easter break.
We have also enjoyed lots of outdoor fun, being busy builders, creating delicious mud kitchen concoctions, zooming around and sharing imaginative play with friends.
On Thursday, we were treated to a wonderful puppet show from the Year 1 class. They had made their own puppets and acted out the story Dear Zoo for us. The children were captivated and loved watching listening to and watching the show.
On Friday, we had a very special surprise when David the rabbit—our very own Easter Bunny—came to visit. The children asked thoughtful questions and used quiet voices and gentle hands as they met him.
We hope you enjoyed the Easter crafts the children brought home. They worked with such care and creativity to make something special for you. Wishing all our families a peaceful and happy Easter break.
