This week in preschool we have been busy learning all about mini beasts and enjoying lots of fun activities both indoors and outside in the sunshine and rain.

Our story of the week was Mini Beast Bop, alongside some non-fiction bee books. Through these stories, the children developed their Communication and Language skills by talking about different mini beasts, sharing what they already knew, and learning new words linked to bees and insects. The children were fascinated to discover facts about bees and why they are important for our gardens and flowers.

Our rhyme of the week was 5 Little Bees, which the children loved singing and acting out together. This supported both Literacy and Maths, helping the children practice counting, rhythm, and number language.

In Maths, we explored repeating patterns in lots of different ways. The children created musical patterns using instruments and made beautiful stripy bees using paper and lollipop sticks, carefully noticing and continuing colour patterns.

One of the highlights of our week was our fantastic Sports Day! The children were amazing, showing confidence, perseverance, and teamwork. We were so proud of how they cheered for their friends, joined in with enthusiasm, and tried their very best. This supported both Physical Development and PSED, helping children build confidence and resilience.

Outdoors, we enjoyed lots of learning through play in the changing weather. The children had great fun scrubbing the cars, chatting together in the shade, and exploring the garden. These experiences encouraged cooperation, conversation, and imaginative play while helping the children connect with the natural world around them.

We hope you all have a lovely half-term holiday! After the break, we will be learning about our final mini beast theme—caterpillars—and exploring how they grow and change.
