Jungle Adventures and Busy Learning

We’ve had such a lovely week in Preschool, full of exploring, playing and learning together. The children are really settling in and becoming more confident in their new routines.

Our story of the week was Walking Through the Jungle. The children enjoyed joining in with the repeating phrases and imagining which animals they might meet. Our rhyme, The Bear Went Over the Mountain, helped us think about going over, under and through things — perfect for our maths focus on position words.

To bring this learning to life, we went for a walk around our Preschool garden. The children went through the tunnel, over the tyres and around the trees, using lots of new language as they moved. Indoors, we played “Hide the Dolls,” practising words like in, on, under and next to. This hands on play helps children understand early maths ideas in a fun, meaningful way.

In HeartSmart, we met Boris the Robot for the first time. The children listened to his story and began talking about feelings, kindness and making good choices — an important part of growing in confidence and learning how to look after ourselves and our friends.

We also explored our sense of sight. The children looked closely at their eyes in a mirror, coloured them in, and talked about what “good looking” means when someone is speaking. Outdoors, binoculars and magnifying glasses helped us spot tiny details and jungle animals hiding around our play space.

Our indoor and outdoor areas have been full of busy hands and imaginative play. The children enjoyed animal puzzles, playdough, sand, water play, role play, ride on trikes, and lots of jungle animals. These activities help build strong fine and gross motor skills, creativity and confidence.

It’s been a happy, active week, and we’re so proud of how the children are settling in and enjoying their jungle adventures.
