Preschool News 14.11.25

We began the week by making beautiful poppies and joining the rest of the school
for a two-minute silence at 11am for Remembrance Day. The children
showed such lovely respect during this thoughtful moment as we talked gently
about remembering and honouring others.

On Thursday, we celebrated World Kindness Day. Together, we explored the many ways we
can show kindness in preschool, from using gentle hands to helping our friends.
We renewed our kind hands pledge, and the children enjoyed printing
their colourful handprints all around it, creating a beautiful reminder of our
promise to be kind every day.

Friday brought lots of excitement as we celebrated Children in Need. The
children loved making their very own Pudsey headbands and colouring
Pudsey pictures, filling the room with bright patterns, spots, and smiles.

Our story of the week was the wonderfully lively oral tale Mr. Wiggle and Mr.
Waggle. The children threw themselves into the words and actions, making
storytelling a joyful and interactive part of our week.

In maths, our number of the week was 3. The children practised collecting
three objects, spotting the number around preschool, and showing three fingers
during circle time. We also had fun playing the dice block game; we practiced
recognising the numerals, subitising up to 3 and collected the correct number
of blocks.
Our rhyme, Three Little Leaves, helped them understand that “three” can be made up of different combinations — even if two leaves are on the tree and one
is on the ground, there are still three leaves altogether.

Alongside all of this, we have been practising snipping with scissors, enjoying
pretend picnics with our toys, and having lots of squishy, creative
fun with playdough.

Next week, we are excited to introduce our new traditional tale — The Gingerbread
Man. We can’t wait to see where this story takes us and what adventures
unfold!
