What a year we've shared together,
Learning, laughing every day,
From our very first hello
To the memories we take away.
We visited Chester Zoo together,
With creatures great and small,
We became Antarctica champions,
Standing proud and brave through it all.
We picked fruit from the orchard trees,
Then baked sweet crumble with delight,
Planted seeds and watched them flourish,
Growing stronger day and night.
We searched for signs of springtime,
Made rain gauges in the rain,
Roasted marshmallows at Forest School,
Then couldn't wait to go again.
We built a cosy bug hotel,
For tiny creatures passing through,
And watched with wonder every day
As baby pigeons finally flew.
We visited our village church,
And learned about its story too,
Asking thoughtful questions,
Discovering something new.
On World Book Day we became characters,
Our favourite stories came alive,
We shared puppet shows with Pre-School friends,
Helping imaginations thrive.
We painted spirals full of colour,
Made sculptures with such pride,
Created Eric Carle-inspired creatures,
With smiles we couldn't hide.
We counted, read and wrote each day,
Growing more than we could see,
Every challenge made us stronger,
Becoming the best that we could be.
Then came our groovy seventies day,
With music, games and lots of fun,
A day of laughter, smiles and dancing,
One we'll remember, everyone!
We buried our special time capsule,
Filled with memories from our year,
A little piece of Year 1 magic,
To discover in the years ahead.
We laughed together, learned together,
Through every season of the year,
Filled our classroom with kindness,
Friendship, courage and good cheer.
Most of all, I've watched you blossom,
Braver, kinder, every day,
Showing resilience, curiosity,
In your own unique and wonderful way.
Thank you for your thoughtful gifts,
Your kindness meant so much to me.
I'll think of you on our honeymoon,
Knowing you've helped make memories.
So keep on learning, keep on smiling,
Keep believing you can do,
And wherever your journey takes you next,
Be proud of being wonderfully you.
Though Year 1 now is ending,
And it's time to say goodbye,
I'll always smile remembering you,
And the sparkle in your eye.
You'll always be my special class,
The one I'll fondly treasure too.
Thank you for the memories,
And for simply being you.
With all my love,
Mrs Crowther
