Happy VE Day everyone!
Throughout the week, we spent time learning about World War II, why Victory in Europe Day is such a significant moment in history and why it's so important to celebrate peace. To mark the occasion, every class created colourful bunting to decorate our school and we proudly took part in a national assembly, joining 199,000 children from across the UK. During the assembly, we listened to lots of stories and learnt about the amazing street parties everyone would have been having 80 years go today.
At lunchtime, the celebration continued with our very own version of a street party -- complete with party food, flag waving and big smiles all around! Everyone looked amazing in their party clothes, making the day even more special.
Among all the celebrations, we did take a moment to be thankful. At 11 o'clock, we paused for a minute's silence to remember and honour those who gave their lives for the peace we enjoy today. It was a powerful and respectful moment shared across the school.
Finally, we would like to say a big thank you to all of you for helping making our VE Day celebrations so special.
We hope you had a good day,
