Preschool News – Happy half term!

This week in preschool, we have enjoyed lots of outdoor fun, making giant bubbles, riding hobby horses, building in the sand, and working as builders in our construction area.
The children also had fun using our tools to 'fix' our scooters and bikes, and have been very engaged in outdoor mark-making.

In literacy, we created story maps of The Three Little Pigs, showing how well the children know the story.
We listened to Pigs Might Fly and discovered what happened after the three little pigs' run-in with the big bad wolf.
We also introduced Helicopter Stories, where the children told us their own stories, which we then acted out on our 'stage'. We were blown away by their creativity and fabulous acting!

For rhyme time, we learned I'm an Airplane, complete with actions as we moved higher and lower.

Continuing our transport theme, we explored air travel and compared old and new forms of transport. The children were amazed to see a video of a penny-farthing bicycle and looked at pictures of old cars, boats, trains, and planes.

In maths, we revisited positional language, using words like 'in', 'on', and 'under' in different activities. We also explored musical patterns, copying rhythms and sound patterns.

For our Heartsmart session, we practiced being good friends by helping each other in the bean bag game. The children worked hard with their partners to balance beanbags on their heads, showing great teamwork and support for one another. Boris says "It's good to help our friends"

On Friday, we celebrated Valentine's Day by talking about how we can show love to our friends and family. The children made beautiful handprint flowers to take home for their loved ones.
