This week in preschool we have really embraced our growing theme!
We have read the book 'A seed in need' to learn what a seed needs to grow, and we have all planted our very own sunflower seeds. We have also had great fun digging over our growing patch getting it ready for our peas and beans, which have already started to grow roots and shoots.

On Monday we celebrated 'Earth day' by reading the stories 'Somebody Swallowed Stanley' and 'Somebody Crunched Colin'. We then went on a rubbish hunt on the field. Picking up any litter that we found with our litter pickers to put in the bin.

On Tuesday we celebrated St George's day by dressing up as knights, maidens and dragons. We painted St George's crosses and then had a wonderful time learning how to morris dance.

On Wednesday we had a very special visitor to Preschool. A teacher from a local high school, came to talk to the children about Ramadan. The children listened to a special story and learned all about the importance of fasting during Ramadan. They explored beautiful prayer mats, looked at the Qur'an and tasted dates.

On Thursday we went on a Gnome hunt in the preschool area, identifying the gnomes by their numbers and coloured hats. The children then continued this in their free flow time.

On Friday we started the day by practicing our racing for sports day. The children were absolutely brilliant! and they are already looking forward to race day.

Our in Heartsmart session this week we continued to learn about true words and how it is good to tell the truth.

Next week we will be starting to measure and compare our plants as they grow, we will be learning the rhyme 'Dingle dangle scarecrow' and continuing our sports day practice.
