Preschool News 24.3.23

This week in preschool we have a last been able to spot some signs of spring!
On Tuesday we went for a walk around the school grounds and the children spotted lots of things starting to grow. We spotted daffodils, daisies, some new green leaves and some buds on the trees.

The children have been enjoying practicing their ball skills in the preschool garden, throwing, catching and kicking large footballs to each other, into a goal, and through the tyre.

In the indoor environment they have continued to play in the role play area with the baby dolls and have been doing a little spring cleaning!

We have been exploring capacity in the water tray, filling up and emptying different containers.

For our Heartsmart session this week the children have been cutting and sticking pictures of Boris, giving him the things he needs to be kind, e.g. his ears for listening and his heart for caring.

The children have been making pictures and models of the spring flowers we have seen and we have added them to our changing seasons display.

In literacy this week we have listened out for our sound of the week 'd' finding lots of things such as 'dinosaur' 'duck' and 'doctor' that begin with the sound for our silly soup pot.

We have started looking this week at ways we can help to look after the earth and our environment. The children had lots of good ideas, such as picking up litter and planting trees. We have started to recycle our fruit snack waste by putting it into a compost bin and we have been collecting our lunch box wrappers to re-use in an art project.

Finally we have planted our seed potatoes into our potato grow bags in the preschool garden so we are hoping for lots of sunshine and a few spring showers to help them grow.

Next week will be filled with lots of Easter and spring crafts and activities.
