Preschool News 21.6.24

This week in preschool we have had an incredibly busy week full of exciting activities. From harvesting potatoes to making music, our preschoolers have been thoroughly engaged in learning and fun. Here's a look at what we've been up to:

We started the week by harvesting our potatoes.
The children counted and then weighed the potatoes from each of our grow bags to see which bag had the most.
On Thursday, we used these potatoes, along with other vegetables, to make some delicious vegetable soup. The children carefully used knives to chop the vegetables, and everyone had a chance to taste the yummy soup.

We have enjoyed the traditional tale "Stone Soup" this week and we used this to talk about how it is a good choice to help each other and to share with others who need our help.

Our rhyme of the week was "Little Miss Muffett," and we had several spider-themed activities for our mini beast theme.
In our Heartsmart session, we talked about Incy Wincy Spider and how he persevered and didn't give up even when he got rained on.
The children enjoyed spider web threading, making spider web pictures, and decorating biscuits with spider patterns.

Our N2 children had transition visits to the reception class and had a lovely time with Mrs. Ward and Mrs. Wainwright. Meanwhile, our N1 children were joined by some new friends when our September starters came for our stay and play sessions.

On Friday, we celebrated 'Make Music Day' with a 'Creepy Crawly Calypso.' The children loved playing different musical instruments, especially the recorder and accordion.

We would like to say a big thankyou for the donation of the cube slide, the children have had lots of fun with it and with it's box!

Next week, we will be moving on to 'worms'. We will be singing the rhyme "Wiggly Woo" and listening to the story "Superworm." We are excited for another week of discovery and fun!
