Preschool News 20.1.22

Another busy week in Preschool saw us making the most of the wintry weather. We went on a walk around the school grounds looking for signs of winter. We discovered that there were no leaves on the trees, the ground was covered with snow and ice and we did not see any animals or insects around. We also have had great fun working together as a team to build snowman in the preschool garden.

We have continued our theme of The Three Little Pigs listening to the story, discussing who were our favourite characters and thinking about where the story was set.

We have focused on building this week with the children using different materials to build junk model houses.
The children also split into teams to build houses out of bricks, sticks and straw; they did a really great job remembering to build walls, roofs and doors. They have also used different shapes, hammers and pins to make houses on cork boards.

In maths we have recapped the number 2, looking at different representations, showing finger numbers and counting actions such as hops and claps.

Our rhyme of the week is Old MacDonald had a farm and the children have been very good at blending the animals names e.g. p-i-g pig.

For our Heartsmart session we talked about what it looks like to be happy and then we played a game of pass the smile.

Next week we will continue our Traditional Tale theme by introducing the story of Goldilocks and The Three Bears. Our rhyme will be 'When Goldilocks went to the house of the Bears', and we will be recapping the number 3. 

We will also be commemorating the Chinese New Year on Monday celebrating the Year of the Rabbit.
