This Week in Preschool

This week, we had lots of fun learning a new traditional tale -- Stone Soup! We helped to chop the vegetables, stir the pot, and then taste our own yummy soup. It was exciting to make something just like in the story!

In Literacy, we listened carefully to the Stone Soup story and some of our older friends learned the sound 'n' in our Read Write Inc. time.

We sang the rhyme "This Old Man", clapping and counting along as we went!

In Understanding the World, we made lovely green leaves for our big summer tree by colouring and cutting them out ourselves. We talked about how trees look in summer and added our leaves to the display.
We also started to share our baby photos with the children, they had great fun guessing who each photo was.

In Maths, we explored heavy and light things. We felt different objects with our hands and then used real balance scales to find out which items were heavier or lighter. It was so much fun guessing and then seeing the results!

For our Heartsmart time, we played a game with Boris the robot! We rolled a dice and said what we could do with different parts of our body -- like "I can wave with my hand" or "I can dance with my feet!" We also did more of Boris's fun challenges, including spinning tops and using screwdrivers carefully.

In Expressive Arts and Design, we celebrated National Make Music Day on Friday! We played lots of different instruments like an accordion and a recorder, and danced and sang to the Mini Beast Bop. We also made bright sunshine collages to match the lovely sunny weather we've had.

Outdoors we have been enjoying lots of fun in our garden, we have made soup in the mud kitchen, snipping herbs from our garden to add to the mud!
We have used our water sprayers to wash the foam from the boards and on the hottest days we used them to keep each other cool.

Next week we will be continuing to share our baby photos, and we will also be looking at different jobs we might like to do.
