Preschool News 10.01

This week in preschool, we have been marveling at the awe and wonder of the beautiful winter weather. We began the term by observing the seasonal changes around us and engaging in activities inspired by winter.

We went on a winter senses walk, exploring our surroundings by looking, listening, touching, smelling, and even trying to catch snowflakes on our tongues. The children made snowy pictures using cotton wool, chalk, and craft materials. They also enjoyed painting on ice with watercolour paints, creating beautiful and colourful designs.
In the exploration trays, the children played with "snow," ice, and sugar cubes, building and experimenting with the textures.

The children also helped Anna sort out her winter clothes, making sure she picked the warmest and cosiest options for the cold weather.

In our Heartsmart session, we discussed who is special to us and ways we can show love to those people. Boris reminds us that we all have someone we can show love to.

This week in our maths activities we focused on reviewing the number 1 and practiced writing it with great care and concentration.

In literacy, we revisited the oral story Mr. Wiggle and Mr. Waggle and practiced retelling it together.
Our story of the week was Robin's Winter Song, which the children enjoyed as it captured the joys and challenges of the winter season. At rhyme time, we sang 5 Little Snowmen to practice our counting skills while celebrating the season.

For our squiggle focus this week, the children made fantastic marks with up-and-down and side-to-side movements, showing great energy and enthusiasm.

We were thrilled to welcome our new starters to the preschool family. They have settled in beautifully, and we are so proud of them.

Next week, we will begin our Time Travellers theme. We'll start by exploring cars, reading the story Mr. Gumpy's Motor Car, and singing Twinkle Twinkle Chocolate Bar.

It has been a fantastic start to the term, and we can't wait for more adventures next week!
