Another week has flown by! I can't believe that we have nearly come to the end of our first term together. Where does the time go?
This week we have continued with our multiplication and division unit in math. This week's focus has been multiplying and dividing by 10, 100 and 1000. We remembered that you don't just add zeros. Instead you need to move the digits up or down the place value chart. We then used this knowledge to help us work out questions like 60 x 8.
In English this week, we have been refreshing our SPaG knowledge. We recapped what relative pronouns are and what relative embedded clauses are and then we had fun by taking part in a SPaG version of 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire'.
During our afternoon lessons we have been doing a variety of subjects. In Computing, we moved onto our next lesson and learnt how to create a nested loop which contains a conditional statement. This was a little tricky at times. You all showed great resilience and it was lovely o see you working together to overcome the challenges. Well done!
In D.T, we worked in partners to design our automata toys. We were given a design brief and had to think about the design criteria we needed to meet. You then drew and labelled a cross-sectional diagram of your design. We will have lots of fun next week making them.
In our Science lesson this week, you planned and carried our your own science experiments. You were investigating friction. You all thought carefully about how to carry out a fair test and you collected your data carefully. Your results showed that the rougher a surface is the greater the friction it creates.
In Geography, we continued to learn more about trade. We looked carefully at where the Uk imports and exports goods from and we then used our knowledge to work out whether or not we live in a global economy. We all decided that we do.
I hope you’re all having a lovely weekend,
