Y3 News 9.9.22

Wow I cannot believe you have already finished our first week of year 3! You have all worked so hard and are getting used to the new routines and expectations of key stage 2.

On Monday, we discussed our holidays and practiced our new routines. After break, you created birthday cards for our class. After lunch we talked about our new topic 'The Romans' and explored what a mosaic was.

In maths this week, you explored place value of 3 digit numbers and counted in 100s. On Friday, you continued to practice your 2s, 5s and 10 times tables.

In English, you created a story all about what you didn't do over the summer holidays. These were really creative and great to see what you can do. 

You were started to create your own mosaic on a shield making sure not to over lap the tiles. Then you moved on to the Roman solider and this is our final big art piece.

Me and others! This is what our HeartSmart 'Power On' button is made up of. The 'I' means me, and the 'O' means others. Looking after our hearts by showing love to ourselves and others keeps us healthy. In this week's lesson, we learnt ways in which we can show love to others and ourselves as well as the things that make us happy. We definitely agree with Boris the robot's definition when he said a heart is the middle of a person and the centre of our thoughts and emotions. In Music, you were introduced to the ukulele and started to learn all about the different strings.

In PE you played 2 warm up games of stuck in the mud and the traffic light game. You then played some team building games. In your other PE lesson you started your hockey unit. We mastered the correct way to hold the hockey stick and dripped the ball in 3 different activities.
