Reception Class News 23/05/24

What a fun-packed week we've had Reception Class, even though it was squeezed into just four days! As we eagerly anticipate the half-term break, let's take a moment to reflect on some of the fantastic activities and learning experiences we've enjoyed.

Mathematical Development: This week, we continued our exploration of numerical patterns by focusing on odds and evens. Using our understanding of equal groups, we successfully identified odd and even numbers in familiar contexts. Your keen observations and enthusiasm made this a truly enjoyable learning journey.

Physical Development: Sports day was a brilliant success! Competing in our house teams, we tackled obstacle courses, bean bag races, egg and spoon races, and the 100-metre dash. A huge thank you to the PTA for the refreshing ice pops – they were the perfect treat after a morning of energetic activities.

Personal, Social, and Emotional Development: This week, we focused on the beautiful ways we show love to others. We discussed the importance of helping, showing kindness, sharing with friends, and cheering people up. Reception Class, your thoughtful contributions highlighted the caring and compassionate nature of our class.

Literacy Development: Our attention turned to letter formation and ensuring that our writing is clear and distinct. We worked on making sure there is a clear distinction between the size of our capital letters, small letters, tall letters, and descenders in our sentence writing.

Expressive Arts and Design: We continued to enjoy and expand our repertoire of songs this term. Listening to and singing a range of songs has not only been fun but also a wonderful way to express ourselves and build our musical abilities.

Reception Class, your hard work and enthusiasm have shone brightly this week. As we head into the half-term break, take some time to rest, recharge, and enjoy yourselves. I can't wait to see all the wonderful things we will achieve together when we return!
