On Thursday, we celebrated world book day and the love of reading was buzzing through Wybunbury Delves.
We arrived into school dressed as our favourite book characters and you all looked incredible. As you entered your classes, you excitedly discussed your costume and your favourite book.
Throughout the day, you participated in lots of fun story activities. All classes completed a scavenger hunt where you had to look through lots and lots of books for different characters and objects. You found princesses, frogs, elephants, your favourite food, a problem and even different settings. It was amazing to hear the 'ooooos' and the 'aaaahs' as you flicked through the pages. As well as this, you watched the world book day 10 minute story times from different authors such as Michael Morpurgo, Dermot O'Leary, Nathan Byron and Sophie McKenzie. Some classes even took part in the world book day live lessons. From the start of the day to end, you were sharing books, listening to stories and finding that passion and love to reading.
Over half term, you were given the special mission to create a character wooden spoon. These are absolutely fantastic and we have loved looking at them and using them in the classroom. We have even displayed some of them through our school corridors for all of our visitors to see. As a class you took part in a secret vote to choose the winner of the wooden the spoons! The winners have been chosen and prizes will be given out next week in worship. A huge well done to everyone for creating a fantastic wooden spoon.
I hope you all enjoyed world book day as much as me!
