Happy New Year! Welcome back
Our Worship week focused on our thoughts on guidance and the way forward.
Wednesday – Picture News! We debated 'Should all the energy we use be renewable?' We heard about a Scottish inventor who has designed a flatpack wind turbine which it is hoped will help power communities in Kenya and to be able to help areas recovering from natural disasters or in very rural settlements. Bible link: Psalm 107: 1
Dear God,
Thank you for the incredible things you provided to the world like the wind, which never runs out,
Thank you for the love you have for us and everything in the world,
Thank you for your love that nevers runs out and will go on and on.
Amen
Thursday – Mrs Chesters continued our Christmas celebrations as we looked at the Story of the Wise Men, Matthew 2: 1-12, in readiness for Epiphany tomorrow. Not much is known about the visitors from the East who came after Jesus was born. Tradition says that there were 'three wise men' but actually we only know that there were three gifts – gold, frankincense and myrrh. Some say they were Jews left in Babylon after the exile. Some say they came from three different lands to represent the entire world. Wherever they came from, and whoever they were, we do know that they followed a star to the city of Bethlehem which God had promised would be the birthplace of 'a new ruler, who will be the shepherd of my people'. The Bible uses the words child and house, not infant and animal shelter, so we can assume that their journey was long and that some time had passed since Jesus had been born. As soon as they saw Jesus, they kneeled down and worshipped him.
On stars we thought about what we need guidance about or help with? We asked for God to help and guide us just as He did for the Wise Men.
Dear God
Thank you for the story of the Wise men.
Thank you that they were willing to follow the star.
Help us to listen to those wo guide us and follow their advice.
Help us to guide, encourage and help others too.
Amen
Friday -Year 6 ended our week by leading our Celebration Worship – HELP EVERY CHILD TO SHINE! In this short week, who were our winners? Which house collected the most marbles? Who demonstrated the Fruits of the Spirit to be the class Guardian Angel? After celebrating Jesus' birthday over the holidays, who in our school community has had a birthday to celebrate? Thank you Year 6 for being our leading lights today and delivering worship.
