What a lovely, sunny week it's been on the field for PE!
Years 1 and 2 turned our attention to throwing this week. We rotated around several different stations including overarm throwing for accuracy at cones and distance into hoops, shot put using bean bags, discus using frisbees and throwing high and catching using the plastic cones. We worked hard on transferring our bodyweight from our back legs to our front to make our throw go further and on the 'pushing from the neck' technique for shot put. Super job!
Years 3 and 4 rotated around a variety of stations from throwing to hurdles. We revisited shot put using the bean bags. We tried hard to make sure we used our bodies to help us push the shot away from our necks rather than throw it. We did overarm throwing at cones, to practise our accuracy. We enjoyed sprinting over the hurdles on the track and practised scissor jump over the hurdles and long jump. We also had a try at discuss using the plastic frisbees. We looked at the spin technique and focussed on trying to release the discuss at the correct time to make sure it flew forward! We were brilliant!
Year 5 used the same stations as years 3 and 4 and shared their lesson with year 2. They were fantastic 'mini teachers', rotating around stations in groups with year 2 children. They showed them different techniques and encouraged them during the whole lesson! Fantastic work year 5!
Well done everyone!
Have a lovely weekend!
