PE News 21.1.22

Another great week of amazing PE performances!

Years 1, 2 and 3 continued our dance units.

Year 1 listened to and followed a BBC time to move programme based around a watering hole on the African plains. We became giraffes, elephants and antelopes as we headed to get water.

Year 2 followed the beginning of a space journey. We prepared for launch, became rockets, blasted off into space and looked out on the stars and planets as we passed them by. We'll follow this next week by going further into space!

Year 3 went exploring through the tunnels of the pyramids and into chambers full of hieroglyphs. We then used the words mummy, worship, pyramid and Egyptian to create group dances to a count of 16.

Year 4 continued our gymnastics unit. We worked on the floor and apparatus creating a routine with four different arches and bridges. We focussed on using a variety of spins, on points and patches and at different levels, to link our arches and bridges.

Years 5 and 6 carried on our Health Related Fitness unit. We completed our own warm ups and then moved into groups to complete a 12 minute run. We worked as a team to take turns, support each other and step up ready to run if a team mate was tired. We then completed a series of exercises working our core. We paid particular attention to our form and making sure we engaged the correct muscles!
