This week we have continued with volleyball. We managed to get the nets out but it was still a bit windy. We took it in turns to 'anchor' the posts by holding them.
Years 1 and 2 recapped the shots from last week and practised in small groups.
Year 1 continued to practise our shots, in small groups, trying to keep the ball from hitting the ground.
Year 2 moved to the nets and worked on throwing and catching. We concentrated on trying to get height on our throws so that the ball cleared the net. Finally, we had tried using our shots over the net.
Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 reminded ourselves of the five shots we practised last week. We looked at the net height and where each shot would take place in relation to it e.g. block would be close to the net and under arm serve would be further away. We split into groups and practised the different shots over the net. We then moved on to small games, scoring points when our ball landed in our opponents half.
A quick reminder to make sure children have a water bottle in school, particularly on PE days! There are quite a few children in every class without a drink in this warmer weather.
Don't forget to check out the TriKidz triathlon challenge news! If anyone is interested in taking part in a triathlon, we have a couple locally. UK Triathlon run several in the area with a kids race at Alderford Lake. The Castle Triathlon Series run a kids race at Cholmondley Castle. You can also find out lots of information at British Triathlon.
Have a lovely weekend!
