What a super day we have had today as we welcomed our VE celebrations into Y6. Your outfits and ration food baking has amazed us all. Thank you Y6.
We began our day by learning all about VE Day, and then went on to create our own bunting decorations for our afternoon tea. We then used our periscopes to take part in a beanbag battle against each house team. Blue house had the most hits and won the war. After break we settled down to watch the first part of our film Goodnight Mr Tom and we will finish it off next week.
After lunch and filled with excitement, we began the preparations for our afternoon tea. I think the hall looked fabulous with all your hard work Y6. Well done. We welcomed our grandparents and parents into the hall, and served afternoon tea with pride. Your singing and dancing was well received and I know how much your grandparents and parents enjoyed dancing the waltz with you. Your rationed baking has been a complete success and looked delicious on each cake stand.
Thank you for all your support and please pass on my thanks to all grandparents. Our VE day celebrations came to life as we danced and sang to our audience. Thank you to Mrs Jenkins who has taught Y6 their dances during PE, and to Miss Holland who has taught all the wartime songs during her music lessons. We were extremely proud to serve you today and thank you for sparing the time to share the last moments of this term's topic with us.
Well done Y6. I am super proud of you.
