Well... what can I say. It has been absolutely delightful to have all of your lovely, smiling faces back in our new classroom. I have to say, it feels like we never left!
On Wednesday you discovered that we would be learning about the Victorians this term. There are so many exciting topics will we explore over the next couple of months. In our big art project, we will be creating a portrait of Queen Victoria with each child recreating a small section of the picture. Over the last couple of days, we have learnt how to mix watercolours to create the desired colours for our portrait.
In our English lessons this week we have been planning how to write a letter for our very own class time capsule! We are creating a time capsule to commemorate the crazy events of the year 2020. The children have all decided what items we should put in the capsule and have been planning what their letters are going to say. We have created our own word banks of COVID19 vocabulary and considered what we enjoyed about lockdown. We are hoping to bury the capsule next week (once we have finished our writing).
In our Maths lessons, we have recapped what we learnt in our place value unit in Year 4 and then started our first Year 5 lesson based on writing numbers to 10,000. We were also very eager to have a go at our 25 question times table quiz today!
This afternoon, Mrs Swan taught us all about Dr Barnados and why he chose to set up his children's charity.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend. I cannot wait to share our first full week together next week.
