Well done everyone! We've reached the end of another week and the weather has just about held out for our PE lessons.
This weeks' focus has been hockey as part of our invasion games unit as well as the first sports partnership virtual competition.
Miss Haynes taught PE in year 1 this week. As it was raining heavily, they did a wonderful Cosmic Kids yoga session in the classroom.
Year 3 took the unihoc sticks outside and completed the virtual competition tasks of dribbling, shooting and accuracy. Unihoc sticks are a great introduction to hockey as they are flat on both sides which helps us to master ball control first before we progress on to conventional sticks and have to focus on using the correct side of the stick as well.
Year 6 focussed on the virtual hockey competition skills.
Skill 1-dribbling the ball, there and back, around four cones.
Skill 2-shooting at a line of coloured cones. The outside cones scored 1 point, the inner cones scored 5 points and the middle cone scored 10 points.
Skill 3-hitting or pushing the ball to score a goal.
The top scores across years 5 & 6 will put forward to represent our school.
Everyone did a fantastic job and it was so lovely to see children supporting each other through the tasks.
Congratulations to Bella in year 6 for being the first to complete the personal challenge booklet. An outstanding achievement! Well done Bella!
Have a lovely remainder of the weekend.
