Our preschool willow tunnel

This week we braved snow, storm Kira, wind, rain and shine to create a willow tunnel. Each afternoon we were joined by children from year 5 and Mrs. Tibbetts who helped us to construct our willow tunnel. We carefully used a long screwdriver to make a deep hole in the soil where we wanted the willow to go, then we had to use our strong muscles to pull it back out! With the help of Mrs Tibbetts we used the garden loppers to chop the end off the willow. We then pushed the willow into the hole we had made. We gently bent the willow round to create the tunnel shape and our year 5 helpers tied the pieces together with string. To strengthen the tunnel we weaved pieces of willow in and out of the construction.

We can't wait to see what changes occur as we explore Spring!
