Happy Half Term Year 6 – 13.2.26

Can you believe it? Another term has flown by! It’s been fantastic to
look back and see just how much curriculum we’ve covered. Over the weeks,
the children have really built up their resilience and have been working at
such a steady pace. Well done, Year 6. I am enormously proud of you all.

In Maths, we’ve been busy changing fractions into decimals and working
with percentages, as well as finding equivalent fractions, decimals and
percentages. We finished the week by tackling another arithmetic paper and
still found time to enjoy a few maths games too. Wonderful work all round.

In English, we’ve completed our Darwin recounts. The children have
edited and published them in their author books and even added illustrations —
they look fantastic. We’ll be starting an exciting new writing outcome after
the half-term break.

I think our standout moment this week must be the amazing new breeds of
dogs the children designed after selecting different DNA in our Science
inheritance lesson, so creative! That said, it was a close call because our DT
projects are now officially under construction and the skills on show have been
brilliant. I can’t wait to see the finished products take shape — very
exciting.

Other learning opportunities that we’ve enjoyed over our week have been…
our final Forest Schools session, two PE lessons, RE, AYLA, Music, Computing,
Spellings, Book Club, an Interfaith lesson, and of course some lovely time
spent with our favourite buddies. A very full and brilliant week.

I haven’t set any homework over half term as the children have
absolutely earned a well-deserved break. Enjoy the lie-ins, some fresh air, and
most importantly, special time together as families.
