Happy Half Term Team!

This week in Year 1 we have had a very busy and exciting final week before half term!

In English, we finished writing our instructions all about how to clean our playground. The children worked incredibly hard and were very proud to share their finished writing with Year 3. It was lovely to hear the children reading their work aloud with such confidence.

In Maths, we have been learning all about time. We practised the days of the week and the months of the year, whilst also thinking carefully about duration. We discovered that 1 second is very quick and learnt that there are 60 seconds in 1 minute.

In Computing, we used the Chromebooks and discussed whether using a keyboard or a pencil is easier. The children enjoyed sharing their ideas and practising their typing skills.

In Art, we created our final spiral-inspired pieces of artwork. We explored using pastels, charcoal, pens and water to create different effects and textures. The finished pieces looked fantastic!

In RE, we learnt about the Muslim naming ceremony and discussed the different ways we think babies should be welcomed into the world. The children shared some thoughtful ideas and made lovely links to their own experiences.

In Geography, we discovered that Winnie and Winston had followed our route and gone on a trip to the park! We all had a go at drawing maps to represent the route we took through Wybunbury and thought carefully about the landmarks we could include.

In Science, we explored different types of trees and looked closely at their features.

We also had a fabulous morning at Sports Day! The children loved taking part in the obstacle race, bean bag race, egg and spoon race and the sprint race. It was wonderful to see such fantastic teamwork, determination and encouragement throughout the morning.
