Happy Friday Year 4 – 16.10.26

Happy Friday, Year 4!

We’ve certainly packed a lot into another week in Year 4! We have been busy learning, sharing our ideas and working hard across all of our subjects. Here’s a little look at what we’ve been up to!

Our non-fiction unit, using William and the Missing Masterpiece as our stimulus, is well underway. We have spent time analysing a newspaper report and thinking carefully about the features we need to include in our own writing. We have also been improving our sentence writing by using because and when to add extra information. We have now planned our first two paragraphs and are looking forward to adding more next week. Watch this space!

In maths, we finished our Place Value unit by exploring Roman numerals before moving on to our new unit on addition and subtraction. We have been using scaling and our known facts to help us build confidence and develop our mathematical thinking.

We have been just as busy in our other lessons too! During Book Club, we completed our 100 Facts of a Viking work, learning lots of interesting facts along the way. In spelling, we have been practising how to use apostrophes for singular possession, and we have continued to work hard on our handwriting. It is lovely to see the improvements being made, not just in handwriting lessons but in our other books too!

We have also enjoyed our lessons in RE, French, PE, Music, Friendship Terrace and Computing. However, our standout moment this week was definitely in History! We have completed our Viking unit by creating a piece of art to answer the question, “Do you think the Vikings were raiders or settlers?” We have been thinking carefully about what we have learnt and using our knowledge to share our opinions creatively. It was a lovely way to bring our learning to a close!

Another fantastic week, Year 4! You have worked so hard, and I am looking forward to seeing what next week brings. Have a wonderful weekend!
