Year 5 is taught by Mr Dale and learning is supported by Mrs Whittingham in the mornings.
I hope you have had a lovely Christmas and a happy new year. I have enjoyed welcoming back lots of smiling and excited learners into school this week!
This term's learning will be based around a fantastic book called "Wolf Brother" by Michelle Paver. The story follows the main character; Torak, who is an outcast, all alone, wounded, terrified and on the run. His only ally is an orphaned wolf cup. Wolf Brother carriers you back thousands of years to a world steeped in natural magic and elemental terror, a world in which trusting a friend means risking your life. This is a fantastic book by Michelle Paver and the first in the Chronicles of Ancient Darkness. Our book will underpin our learning throughout the term including cave paintings in Art, Skara Brae as our Geography focus and from Stone Age to Iron Age as our History topic.
The organisation of the week has slightly changed this term. Mr Charlesworth will now teach an hour of PE (2pm — 3:15pm) on a Thursday afternoon and one hour (1-2pm) on a Friday afternoon. Please ensure all PE kits (including warmer clothing) are in school and clearly labelled. Swimming on Tuesday afternoons has now finished and you will therefore not need to bring in swimming kits this term.
Homework is still set and discussed on a Friday. Including:
There is already a buzz in the air as we delve into our story and I for one cannot wait to see where our learning journey together takes us...
