Welcome to Year 4!

Miss Rushton teaches Year 4. Mrs Charlesworth also teaches Year 4 on a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Welcome back to another term in Year 4. We have got some magical things happening this term. I can't wait for you to experience them. It's going to be amazing!

This Spring, we will be discovering the wizarding world of Harry Potter! Our class story this term is Harry Potter and the Philosopher's stone. This is such an amazing story and my all-time favourite childhood book; I can't wait to share it with you. I urge you to buy your own copy so that you read along in class.
As always, our work this term is inspired by our class story, have a peek at our Holistic Plan or a copy can be found just outside the Year 4 classroom. You can access the Spring term's newsletter by clicking here.

I cannot wait to start this magical term. Let's work hard and shine! This term is going to be tough as we are starting to prepare for Year 5 but just remember we are all here to help one another. I will be pushing you to challenge yourself more but can you challenge yourself?

Each one of us is a work in progress; we can only better ourselves by giving our all and never giving up.

Let the magic begin!

Miss Rushton

Following on from last term, morning worship will continue to take place at 10:30 am. Your mornings will continue to run similar to the Autumn term: Maths, Book Club, Worship and English. In the afternoons we will be covering History, Computing, Science, Art, D.T, Geography, P.E, French and R.E.

Your Music lessons will take place every Tuesday morning. This term you will be learning a brass instrument and this will be taught by an external teacher.

Your P.E lessons will continue to take place on a Monday afternoon, please ensure that you have your kit in school on the correct day. Just a quick note, if you are able to, please bring trainers instead of pumps as part of your P.E kit. Trainers are a much safer form of footwear, as they support the ankle and will prevent you from injuries such as twists and sprains. Although, I will not be teaching you for P.E this year, this is not to say that I won't be checking up on how you are doing, you all know how much I love P.E!

Below is a brief overview of what is expected of Year 4 children; you will be able to find a full copy of the homework policy at the front of the children's homework books.

Reading: 15 minutes of reading DAILY

Other homework for completion across the week:

- Spelling homework and practising your spellings.

  • Online MyMaths homework, set every Friday.
  • Times tables practice, a test takes place every Friday.
  • Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar Homework (SPaG). This will be due in every Friday.
  • Practising handwriting. This is a huge target for this term; let's get your handwriting Year 5 ready.

As most of you have enjoyed completing the voluntary homework in the Autumn term, this will continue into the Spring term but with a magical twist. Click here to view.
