Year 3 is taught by Miss Pennance. Miss Holland supports our learning each morning and Mr Cornes is with us all day.
Welcome back to our last term together! I cannot believe we are now two thirds of the way through Year 3; isn't the year going quickly!
This term, in Year 3, our work will have a Geography focus as we will be joining Michael as he travels around the world with his family on a boat called the Peggy Sue. Michael is the main character in our new book . . . Kensuke's Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo.
During the term, we will be learning about the different oceans and continents of the world. We will learn how to use compasses and continue to build on the map skills we already acquired least term. We will also be doing many more things too so to find out exactly what you'll be learning, please read the Holistic Plan.
Hope you're looking forward to this term as much as I am,
MyMaths — You will receive MyMaths homework each Friday and it will be due in the following Friday. The work set will be a revision of that week's learning. If you are new or need another copy of your MyMaths login, let me know and I will get it for you.
Times Tables — You will have a Times Table test each Wednesday. Times Tables are very important so please make sure you practice them as they will help you with your learning.
Spelling Homework — each Friday, you will receive a set of spellings. These spellings will be linked to the following week's teaching; you will be tested on them the following Friday. At the beginning of each half term, you will also be handed a list of Common Expectation words to learn (these are words that don't follow the normal rules, that's what 'exception' means). You will need to learn these over the half term and will be tested on them in the last week of the half term.
Reading — you are expected to read for 15 minutes 3 times per week. You will be given a Reading Diary so please make sure you record your reading every time as the diaries will be checked each Friday.
English Homework — just like last year, you will be asked to complete 2 pages of your new Year 3 CGP Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation Book. This will be set each Friday and due in the following Friday. The homework that I set will be linked to the learning we have previously done or are currently doing.
So, to make things simple — all homework is due in on a Friday and you'll have a Times Table test on a Wednesday.
