Another week has flown by in Year 2. This week in English, we wrote a recount of our theatre visit to see the Prince and the Pauper last Friday. We used time connectives and focused really hard on remembering capital letters and full stops. We also thought about how we could make a piece of writing more interesting for the reader and tried to make a more exciting piece of writing than the boring one written by Miss McCurrie!
In maths, we have continued our unit on addition and subtraction this week introducing bar models as another way to show addition. We recapped part whole models too and I am pleased with how well you have used them in your maths to help you.
In the afternoons, we have started out nativity practises in particular singing our new (and some already familiar) songs. It has been lovely to see it start to come together. Mrs Parker and I are so impressed with how well you already know your words too...wow. We were role models to Year 1 and 3 with how clearly we spoke and delivered the Christmas message!
We have also now finished our design and technology unit of work. You have completed your sewing project using a running stitch in making your superhero mask. "I am really good at sewing and I love sewing with Mrs Clinton." Ethan shared this with us this week and what a sewing star he is! Thank you so much to Mrs Clinton for all your hard work and your time you have given us this term to create our mask masterpieces! We can't wait to take them home as part of this terms study work.
In music you have started learning a new song with Mrs Parker which this week was Suspicious Minds by Elvis Presley! Did you like the song? Why/why not?
We finished our week with the Rudolph Run! This was so much fun and we were so impressed with how much you all raised! Please see the website update on the Rudolph Run for more info and photos!
I hope you have had a lovely weekend.
