This week in DT, the children evaluated different types of
wearable technology and discussed how much technology has changed since the
1980s. They shared thoughtful ideas about the positives and limitations of
advanced technology in our ever-growing technological world.
In English, we innovated our own characters inspired by Grandad’s
Secret Giant and began writing our own imaginative narratives. In Spelling,
we focused on the “ch” but “k” sound, learning words such as chemist.
In Maths, we moved on to written formal methods for
subtraction with multiple exchanges. The children used concrete resources to
deepen their understanding of exchanging before progressing to abstract
methods.
In RE, we explored how Christians believe they are in the
presence of God today. We learned about three Christian charities and
considered how they aim to be Jesus’ ‘hands and feet’.
In Computing, we watched Scratch programming clips and
identified which motion blocks had been used on different sprites. The children
then practiced instructing three of their own sprites to move in specific ways.
In PSHE, we looked at the British values and discussed why
these are so important in our country.
In PE, the children had a fantastic gymnastics lesson,
demonstrating excellent teamwork, core strength, and flexibility.
It has been another fantastic week in Year 3! The children
have worked hard across all subjects, and we are very proud of their
achievements. I am particularly impressed with the effort they children are
putting into their presentation, especially in Maths. We have discussed how
important it is to have one digit per square and to use a ruler to ensure
greater accuracy when working out. I have been blown away by their progress and
just had to share their success with you!
Have a wonderful weekend.
Mrs Roney.
