Welcome back, Year 3!

We have thoroughly enjoyed returning to school this week and reuniting with our school family. A strong focus has been placed on wellbeing, with a range of activities designed to help us settle back into routines, reconnect with one another, and feel safe and supported in our learning environment. We reflected on what we treasure most and created drawings to represent this. It was heart-warming to see such beautiful and mature responses, including family members, friends, pets, and time spent with grandparents. In Religious Education, we explored the story of Zacchaeus and discussed how Jesus impacts people’s lives. Through this story, we reflected on our own choices and considered how positive change can occur when we think of others, show empathy, and make kinder decisions. In Reading, we explored the text The Robot and the Bluebird. Year 3 made fantastic predictions and answered thought-provoking inference questions, thinking deeply about the characters’ thoughts and feelings and suggesting thoughtful reasons to support their ideas. In Mathematics, we focused on mentally subtracting three-digit numbers and tens, building confidence and efficiency with a range of mental strategies.

One of the highlights of the week was our Science lesson on forces. We worked enthusiastically in small groups to investigate how much force is required to lift different objects using a newton meter. This hands-on lesson was lots of fun and encouraged teamwork, curiosity, and problem-solving.

We are excited for the week ahead and look forward to commencing our topic on the Ancient Egyptians and going swimming next Wednesday — we can’t wait!
