Welcome back to Preschool!
We hope you all enjoyed our two snowy days and made the most of the winter weather with lots of outdoor fun. A big thank you to the parents who shared snowy photos on Seesaw—the children absolutely loved seeing them, sharing their pictures with friends, and talking about what they had been doing. This sparked some lovely communication and language conversations.
Back in preschool, we continued our wintery fun with our story of the week, “Robin’s Winter Song.” We talked about how the weather has changed and explored winter words such as icy, cold, slippy, snowmen, sledging, and snowballs, helping the children develop their understanding of the world and extend their vocabulary.
Our rhyme of the week was “5 Little Snowmen,” which supported our maths learning as we practiced one-to-one correspondence up to five. We also enjoyed a new counting number rhyme.
The children created lots of beautiful winter artwork, including finger-painting snow on trees and exploring winter-themed process art using a range of materials. These activities helped the children express how winter looks and feels to them through creativity.
In our Heartsmart session, we talked about who is in our house. The children drew pictures of the people they live with—and they didn’t forget their pets! This led to some lovely conversations about family and belonging.
Next week, we’ll continue exploring winter and will begin introducing our exciting new space theme. We’re really looking forward to another fun-filled week of learning together!
